FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions North Carolina families ask most before they reserve a purebred kitten.

Buying and Reserving

How do I reserve a kitten from Kittens North Carolina?

Tell us the style you love, we match you with an available kitten and share photos, videos, and health records, you reserve after a short family screening, and your kitten is personally delivered to your door in North Carolina.

Can I visit the kittens before reserving?

We share current photos, videos, and health records before you reserve. Because we serve North Carolina families with personally accompanied delivery from our Maryland cattery, we coordinate the right next steps on inquiry rather than open-house visits.

How do I know a kitten is real before I pay?

Ask for current photos and a short video with a specific detail, like a note with today's date, and ask about the HCM and PKD screening history of the parents. A responsible cattery answers these openly. See our guide on how to spot a kitten scam.

Is a deposit required to reserve a kitten?

A deposit to reserve a specific, verified kitten is normal. We confirm the deposit process and amount during your family screening. We never ask for the full amount by an untraceable method before verification.

Price

How much do your kittens cost?

Pricing, with prices typically starting around $2,000, reflects health screening, veterinary care, and selective family placement. We confirm details on inquiry rather than posting per-kitten prices.

Does the price change by breed or color?

Price reflects screening and care rather than color or pattern alone. A responsibly placed kitten of any breed and color has the same health and veterinary work behind it.

What does the price include?

The price reflects HCM and PKD screening, full veterinary health certification, vaccination records, family screening, and personally accompanied delivery. The documentation is handed over at delivery.

Health

Are your kittens HCM screened?

British Shorthair and Ragdoll breeding cats are HCM screened using an echocardiogram read by a veterinary cardiologist. We keep PKD-clear lines. Ask for the screening history of a kitten's parents.

What is PKD-clear and why does it matter?

PKD, polycystic kidney disease, is a genetic condition some breeds can carry. PKD-clear lines mean breeding cats are tested and do not carry the gene, a responsible screening step we keep across our program.

Do you guarantee a kitten will never get sick?

No responsible breeder can guarantee a kitten will never develop a health condition. Screening reduces risk by removing affected breeding cats from the program, and we are transparent about results.

What vaccination records come with each kitten?

Every kitten comes with vaccination records on schedule and full veterinary health certification, handed over at delivery. The documentation travels with the kitten.

Delivery to North Carolina

How does kitten delivery to North Carolina work?

Delivery is personally accompanied, a team member travels with the kitten door to door from our Maryland cattery. We do not ship kittens alone. The kitten arrives settled and you receive the health records in person.

Which North Carolina cities do you deliver to?

We serve families across North Carolina, including Greensboro, Raleigh, Charlotte, Fayetteville, Rocky Mount, Wilmington, Durham, and surrounding regions, with personally accompanied delivery from our Maryland cattery.

Do you have an office in North Carolina?

No. We serve North Carolina families with personally accompanied delivery from our Maryland cattery, rather than a local office.

How long does delivery take after I reserve?

We coordinate delivery timing with your family during the screening conversation, so your kitten arrives settled and the schedule fits your home.

Breed and Care

Which breeds do you place in North Carolina?

Six core breeds: British Shorthair, Scottish Fold, Ragdoll, Maine Coon, British Longhair, and Scottish Straight. Each has a dedicated breed guide and kitten styles.

Which breed is best for a family with children?

Calm, patient breeds like the British Shorthair, Ragdoll, and Maine Coon often suit families with respectful children. The right match depends on your home, so we talk through it during screening.

How much grooming will my kitten need?

It depends on the breed. Short-coated breeds need weekly brushing, while semi-long coated breeds like the Ragdoll and British Longhair need brushing two to three times a week. Each breed guide covers grooming in detail.

Avoiding Kitten Scams

How can I avoid a kitten scam?

Watch for a price far below market, pressure to pay by gift card or wire, refusal to call or video chat, and photos that appear on other sites. Ask for a current video and the health screening history before paying anything.

Should I pay by gift card or wire?

No. Use a traceable payment method and never pay the full amount before verifying the cattery and kitten. A deposit to reserve a specific, verified kitten is normal, a demand for full payment by gift card is a red flag.

What questions should I ask a cattery before reserving?

Ask for the HCM and PKD screening history of the parents, the veterinary care and vaccination records for the kitten, and how delivery works. A responsible cattery answers openly and in detail.
